Legal Counsel & Women's Rights Advocate

Women Health Empowerment and Emancipation Initiative • Jigawa State

Hon. Amina Sulaiman

Since completing the LMI Fellowship, Amina has continued to make significant strides in legal advocacy and women’s empowerment across Northern Nigeria. She recently expanded her work at the Women Health Empowerment and Emancipation Initiative, launching a new legal aid clinic that provides free counsel to women in rural Jigawa communities.

Her soft skills training programme through Jobberman Nigeria has now reached over 5,000 individuals across Kano and Jigawa States — a milestone that earned her recognition at the 2025 Northern Nigeria Youth Excellence Awards.

Amina also completed her Master of Laws degree and has been invited to serve as a consultant on gender-responsive legislative drafting for the Jigawa State House of Assembly. She credits the LMI Fellowship with giving her the confidence and network to pursue policy-level impact.

“The LMI Fellowship didn’t just teach me about legislation — it showed me that young Nigerians like me belong at the table where decisions are made.” — Amina Sulaiman
