Hon. Halima A. Mohammed

Programme Officer, Gender Justice

Yaradua Foundation • FCT State

Hon. Halima A. Mohammed

Halima has risen rapidly in the development space since her LMI Fellowship. After completing her youth service at the Yaradua Foundation, she was retained as a full Programme Officer overseeing both the gender justice and climate advocacy portfolios.

She led the Foundation’s delegation to the 2025 African Union Youth Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, where she co-authored a policy brief on gender-responsive climate adaptation that was endorsed by delegates from 23 African nations.

Building on her political science background from the American University of Nigeria, Halima enrolled in a graduate programme in International Affairs and Diplomacy, with a research focus on how young women navigate political participation in Northern Nigeria.

She also launched a mentorship circle for female university students in the FCT interested in public policy careers, which now has over 60 active members.

“LMI gave me the vocabulary and the network to turn academic ideas into real policy impact.” — Halima Mohammed
